Consent Orders explained

Consent Orders?

Consent Orders are legally binding financial or parenting orders approved by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Protect your property, parenting arrangements, and financial future — without ever going to court.

What Are Consent Orders?

Consent Orders are legally binding court orders that finalise your property settlement, parenting arrangements, or both, without needing to attend court.

They carry the same legal force as orders made by a Judge — but the process is faster, cheaper, and far less stressful.

At Adams United Lawyers, we prepare, lodge and finalise Consent Orders for clients across Australia. Because family law is federal legislation, we can act for you in any state or territory.

Why Choose Consent Orders?

✔ Legally Binding

Once sealed by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the agreement is enforceable.

✔ Avoid Court

You won’t need to attend court or participate in litigation.

✔ Protect Your Assets & Parenting Arrangements

Consent Orders formally divide property, secure parenting schedules, and prevent future disputes.

✔ Finality & Security

A sealed Consent Order closes the door on future claims — unlike informal agreements.

What Can Be Included?

Property Settlement Orders

  • Division of assets and liabilities
  • Spousal maintenance
  • Superannuation splits
  • Sale or transfer of property
  • Payment arrangements

Parenting Consent Orders

  • Where the children live
  • Time spent with each parent
  • Schooling, travel & communication
  • Holiday arrangements
  • Parental responsibility
  • Protection against risk or harm

We tailor every order to your unique situation.
